The Training and Education Division will be offering a California State Fire Marshall Structural Collapse Specialist 2 course free of charge to San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel.
This course will be open to Firefighters and Firefighter Paramedics on a first-come-first-served basis. There will be a total of 18 slots for the class. Once spots are filled, a waitlist under “My Events” will be created to fill additional spots as they become available. The class will be held at Heartland Fire Training Facility (HTF). You will also receive a California State Fire Marshall certificate. This class is a requirement to be a member of the Technical Rescue Team (TRT) and Urban Search & Rescue (US&R) CA-TF8.
Structural Collapse Specialist 2

- 0800-1800 hours each day at HTF (1301 N. Marshall Ave, El Cajon)
- Prerequisites: Structural Collapse Specialist 1 and Confined Space Rescue
- Technician PPE – Helmet, eye protection, safety boots, gloves, brush pants and coat
- Water/Gatorade
operate in an operational and technical environment. San Diego Fire-Rescue will cover
tuition costs. All participants will be required to attend the class on their own time. No
overtime or backfill will be provided. Mandatory Exclusion (MX) will be provided for all
eligible students.

• Enrollment for all classes will open on Vector Solutions
• Ensure the window to sign up on Vector Solutions has begun.
• From the Vector Solutions Home Page, Click on “My Events”
• From the “Open Events” list, click on the appropriate course.
• Click on “Enroll” to sign up for class (located in the upper right-hand corner).
An email confirmation will be sent confirming enrollment.
Before signing up, please carefully consider if you can commit to attending the class. If you must cancel within 14 days before the start of the course, please submit an email via the chain of command detailing the reason for canceling to Battalion Chief Kevin Pendleton at KPendleton@sandiego.gov. In accordance with UASI guidelines, failure to cancel your registration less than ten days before the class starts will cause you to be placed on a list excluding you from future enrollment(s) for USAI related courses for one calendar year.
